Principal Structural Engineer

Job Location: Perth

Responsibilities

As our Principal Structural Engineer you will be part of our leadership group responsible for developing and managing a team of professionals involved in the design and construction of major projects both in Australia and overseas.

This role will suit a higher degree qualified engineer with significant (15 years+) minerals process plant design experience. It is expected the Principal Engineer will have high level competence in using structural analysis software. The position also requires a high level of competence in designing to relevant Australian Standards, particularly steel and concrete structures. You may also be required to manage small studies and design projects that are heavily weighted to their discipline.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop structural engineering deliverables including design models, calculations and plant design
  • Provide project review of structural and civil deliverables
  • Coordinate designers and drafters
  • Review progress and schedule
  • Adhere to all CPC Engineering and CPC Project Design policies, systems, procedures and quality management requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Industry related higher education degree
  • 15+ years experience in plant operations and knowledge of a range of process and unit operations
  • Engineering delivery, commissioning and study management experience
  • Accustomed to a high level of client interaction
  • High level competence in designing to relevant Australian Standards, particularly steel and concrete structures
  • Ability to produce high quality study estimates
  • Strong computer literacy skills within a Microsoft office environment
  • Innate attention to detail, excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation and formal technical report writing skills
  • Ability to manage studies and small site projects including invoicing and variation management
  • Knowledge of databases and version control
  • Extensive industry contacts and ability to win the confidence of clients
  • Willingness to travel if required
